The centrepiece of Riyadh’s new financial district

Samba’s new 40-storey headquarters is located at the heart of Financial Plaza, the centrepiece of Riyadh’s new King Abdullah Financial District – a major new commercial quarter almost three times the size of London’s Canary Wharf.

Comprehensive management and monitoring across the 40-storeys

The Delmatic DALI system monitors, manages and optimises lighting throughout the building, providing highly flexible, intelligent, personal and energy-efficient control through a combination of presence detection and daylight-linking. The complete installation and real-time operation is centrally monitored and managed through graphical head end software.

The Power Tower focuses sunshine onto photovoltaic panels

Creating a sustainable building in the desert heat presents numerous challenges, and the building is designed to achieve a LEED Gold rating and represent a benchmark in sustainable architecture and engineering.

Central to the building is its futuristic ‘Power Tower’, a 70m spire sitting atop the skyscraper, which harnesses Saudi sunshine and concentrates it onto photovoltaic panels. Four-storey sky-gardens punctuate the northern elevation to allow daylight to reach the atrium while indirect light is reflected deep into the office floor plates by its tessellated glass interior.
