The Cleveland Clinic is a 400,000 sq.m multi-specialty tertiary care facility with five clinic floors, three diagnostic and treatment levels and thirteen floors of critical and acute inpatient units. The complex also includes operational and support departments, retailers, a conference centre and a high-fidelity clinical simulation centre.
A Delmatic system was chosen based upon technical expertise and superiority, a wide range of equipment that suited all the various control requirements within a medical facility, and the direct support of Delmatic Arabia rather than support through a local trading company or commission agent which is often the case in the Gulf region.
The Delmatic system achieves flexible and energy-efficient control of lighting as well as enhancing patient comfort. The system controls lighting throughout the campus including patient rooms and Royal patient rooms, treatment areas including operating suites, endoscopy and cardiac labs, conference rooms and offices, nurse workstations, examination and treatment rooms, prayer rooms, storage and plant rooms as well as circulation, corridor, lobby and carpark lighting.
The networked system combines the technologies of IP, Lon and Dali for high-speed, powerful control, and provides comprehensive real-time management & monitoring via active graphical software.
The system incorporates Dali digital dimming in all areas of the building. To maximise efficiency and sustainability, presence and absence detection combines with daylight-linking which continually adjusts lighting levels to take account of daylight contribution.
For patient comfort and wellbeing, the system provides scene-setting control of lighting within every patient room. Patients can select a variety of lighting scenes within their room as well as adjust individual lighting scenes to suit their preference. Integration with the bedside tablet within each room enables patients to adjust and control lighting from their bedside screen as well as control other services including temperature and entertainment. A touchpanel at each room entrance allows control of lighting and selection of lighting scenes by medical staff for patient treatment, medical examination etc) as well as patient control of lighting, air-conditioning, blinds and privacy functions.
Delmatic’s extensive range of Dali lighting controllers has enabled modules to be selected for individual areas of the project to suit the particular requirements of flexibility, control features and installation approach within each area. Dali sensors and Dali scene-set controls connect direct to the Dali buswire further simplifying installation and operation, and avoiding the duplication of cabling.
